Nikki Manu
Position
Trainee Solicitor in the Private Client Department
Profile
I graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2014 with a 2:1 LLB Law Degree. Following my graduation, I worked in the Litigation and Housing Law departments at a Lincoln firm, gaining invaluable experience in a wide range of litigation matters and attending Court defending clients in housing re-possession proceedings. Following this, I decided that I wanted to move into the Private Client field and worked with a firm for almost 8 years specialising in probate and the administration of estates. I am Lincoln born and bred, but moved to Scunthorpe in 2021 with my partner, to be closer to his family. I joined Mason Baggott & Garton in May 2022 and decided that I finally wanted to formally qualify as a solicitor. I am currently studying for my Masters in Law – LLM (Solicitors Qualifying Exam 1&2) and hope to be fully qualified in 2024.
Specialism
I undertake work advising and drafting Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Deputyship applications. However, my career has predominantly been working in Probate and the Administration of Estates and I would therefore consider this my specialism. Over the years I have dealt with a very wide range of different estates – no two probate matters are ever the same and the possibilities are endless!
Hobbies
I enjoy spending time with my partner and going on walks with our Jack Russell. I love spending time gardening and trying to grow fruits and vegetables.
First Job
Waitress in a village pub at the age of 15 (I was rubbish and didn’t last very long!)
Favourite Book
Any true crime or history book – I am particularly interested in Victorian history and love a good book about Monarchs throughout British history.
Favourite group/Artist
I have a varied taste in music. I love anything from George Michael to Lewis Capaldi to Green Day to ACDC!
