5 Minute Snapshot

This week we caught up with newly qualified solicitor Harveen Dhinsa who has recently taken up her latest role in MB&G’s Barton office, to find out a little more about her.

Harveen, what is your role and area of expertise?

I am a solicitor who specialises and works in both the Family Law and Private Client departments. I deal with a number of different aspects within the private client department including wills, lasting powers of attorney, deputyship and probate matters. Within the family law department, I also deal with matters concerning divorce, financial settlements, separation and private children disputes.

Why did you decide to become a solicitor?

The main reason I chose to be a solicitor was to help people. I believed that being a solicitor would give me the necessary background and degree to reach out to people who needed help. I also discovered that my strengths were in analysing problems and advising clients.

What do enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy the diversity of work and that every day is different. Being a solicitor requires using a wide range of skills and dealing with unexpected challenges on a daily basis.

 When did you join MB&G?

I joined MB&G in December 2016 as a conveyancing assistant. I then worked and did my first seat as part of my training contract in the busy conveyancing department until December 2018. From then I moved to the MB&G Brigg office where I worked in both the family law and private client departments until qualifying in March 2019.

Where did you complete your studies?

I completed my undergraduate study at The University of Sheffield in 2015 and studied LLB Law. I then went on to complete the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Leeds in 2016.

What is your favourite thing about North Lincolnshire?

I’d have to say my favourite thing about living here is the close-knit and friendly community it has.

Where would we find you outside work?

When I’m not at MB&G, I enjoy going to the gym and socialising with friends.

What’s your favourite book?

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

 Who is your favourite artist?
