Litigation Fee Earner

Brigg

We have a rare opportunity to recruit a fee earner with experience in litigation/personal injury to join our litigation team and be based in our Brigg office on a full-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of working in these areas and work with a degree of independence whilst continuing to develop your skills and help the department to grow.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • You will act in a professional manner at all times with clients, referrers, insurers, colleagues and all others with whom you come in to contact during the course of your work and develop strong relationships with them.
  • You will ensure that all client work is progressed in a timely manner and that the client is kept regularly informed on progress and on costs where appropriate.
  • You will demonstrate relevant expertise, motivation and work ethic to handle a caseload of both litigated and non-litigated matters from allocation to settlement without constant supervision.
  • You will make full use of the firm’s case management and other systems to ensure that all matters are up do date; time spent accurately recorded; key dates and limitation dates entered as appropriate.
  • You will keep up to date with all changes in legislation and attend any internal or external training courses needed to maintain your professional knowledge and expertise.
  • You will ensure the confidentiality and security of all documentation and information of the practice and clients.
  • You will ensure good working relationships with external institutions and organisations.
  • You will take responsibility for and attend to your CPD needs.
  • You will, in conjunction with the practice, comply with the relevant training requirements and to assist with in-house training as may be required.
  • You will, in liaison with Head of Department, be active in promoting the services of the practice and its image and ethos.

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience of handling own caseload is desirable.
  • Confident in all aspects of litigation, particularly contentious probate, boundary disputes, property disputes, breach of contract, property possession and all other general litigation matters.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Public Law Family Solicitor

Scunthorpe

We have a rare opportunity for a Public Law Family Solicitor to join our team in our Scunthorpe office on a full-time permanent basis. The ideal candidate will be 3 year PQE or CILEX with experience of Public Law Family. You will need to be qualified to have rights of audience at court.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To manage all client work allocated by the Head of Department in accordance with detailed procedures and quality standards contained in the firm’s office manual.
  • To ensure that all client work is progressed in a timely manner and that the client is kept regularly informed on progress and on costs where appropriate.
  • At all times to exercise high standards of client care in a professional and pleasant manner.
  • To ensure the confidentiality and security of all documentation and information of the practice and clients.
  • To achieve agreed levels of billing and time recording.
  • In close liaison with the cashier, to have overall responsibility for credit control on own matters.
  • To comply with the SRA Code of Conduct 2023 and SRA Accounts Rules 2019.
  • To maintain clear and precise communications with other personnel in the practice.
  • To ensure good working relationships with external institutions and organisations.
  • To supervise, support and develop immediate support staff and fee earning staff as agreed with the Head of Department.
  • To take responsibility for and attend to your CPD needs.
  • In conjunction with the practice, to comply with the relevant training requirements of the SRA and to assist with in-house training as may be required.
  • In liaison with Head of Department, to be active in promoting the services of the practice and its image and ethos.
