Discrimination is illegal. Discrimination against a person on the grounds of their sex, their
ethnic
origin, their race or marital status, disability, their trade union membership, and
(since 1 October
2006 ) their age, is wrong. What is discrimination? It comes in three different varieties:-

Discrimination is, of course, illegal during recruitment procedures. The employer guilty of discrimination has to pay compensation. The compensation is
based
on losses (actual and future) and injury to feelings. The upper limit? There is none. The worker who has been discriminated against is
entitled
to limitless compensation. Employers therefore need to check that they have
anti-
discrimination procedures in place, and that those procedures are enforced !
